FoundationMission: Improving the Quality of Life of poor children through Education.
DGH
Vallejee Foundation was founded in 2005 by Guy Montezuma,
the Chief Executive of DGH Services which has an Employment Agency,
Staff Training & Development and Management Consultancy.The aims of the Foundation are to assist poor children in Cite Vallejee and Cassis , suburbs of Port Louis , Mauritius. This will be done to improve their quality of life through additional educational support e.g. after school tuition, equipment and practical resources to enhance/promote learning education, literacy classes for parents so they can assist their children.
Fundraising . Most of the funds will be from DGH Services who will donate a percentage of its annual profit to the Foundation. In addition fundraising events will be organised to increase the Foundation’s income. In 2009 we raised £2500
Ongoing Projects
The
DGH Vallejee Foundation has provided for the refurbishment of an annexe
of a Church in Cassis to accommodate a Library, Computer Room and
Classroom.In August 2005 the Foundation made a contribution of £1,500 to the project which will in total cost £14,000. The facilities created by the project will provide valuable resources for the local children, giving them access to computers and books to complement their learning and development.
Since 2006 several donations of computer software, digital projector , printers and school materials to the total value of £4000 have been made to the Vallejee School.
Financial assistance was also given to some needy children for purchase of school uniform and school material.
Practical Assistance has been given by friends and colleagues who whilst on holiday to Mauritius has visited the projects/ school. This provides a boost to the morale of the children, Teachers and volunteers as well as increasing the enthusiasm of the children to learn and hopefully improve their prospects.
Ultimately the Foundation hopes to support one or more children through higher education and they will give something back to the community when they are successful.
